For the third issue of Liberate, we will be featuring “State oppression of animals and activists”. In this feature we will discuss the role of the state in furthering and maintaining animal abuse through mechanisms such as requiring animal testing of new products, subsidising dairy farmers and allowing industry to write codes of welfare. Further to this we will discuss how the state protect animal abusing companies and industries by targeting activists.
It would be great to have peoples’ submissions around this topic, or just anything you want to say or contributions for any of the other sections in the magazine. We want it all.
The other sections are:
* Books not Bombs (book, CD and zine reviews and excerpts)
* Activism and the (in)justice system (send us details of your brushes with the law and issues relating to prisoner support)
* Security
* Activist Toolkit (new in issue two – detailing useful tips for effective activism)
* Direct Action Gets and Goods
* Know Your Enemy
* Know Your Friends
We have also added new section:
*Actions Speak Louder Than Words which will detail national actions, regional campaigns and interesting actions. Please send us your submissions, thoughts, art and/or ideas.
We will try not to edit your writing but it may from time to time be necessary if it is too long.
